41 Facts from the Bible
Verified by Science

01} Theories of evolution cannot touch this one!
Until modern science began its manipulation with life-bearing cells, in order to create life it’s always been necessary for two people – with vastly complex and unique biological designs – to unite and stimulate specific nerves that release a male’s sperm cell into the body bearing the female’s egg cell. Every cell in our bodies has 46 chromosomes except these reproductive cells. They have 23, each bearing the genetic material of the individual from which they came. But when the sperm cell penetrates the egg cell, they become a single cell with 46 chromosomes, using the genetic codes of both male and female to create a life that bears the image and characteristics of the two individuals represented. This life-suffused cell multiplies with astonishing speed. In this stage of infancy, it is fully human and will continue until death. The male/female reproductive process is similar in animals and plants. This complex, interdependent design is described in Genesis 1 and 2.

If you’re aware of anyone who can adequately explain this process through evolution, please send them my way.

02} At 20 weeks, a female baby in the womb has a fully developed reproductive system with 6 to 7 million egg cells.[1]  It wasn't until 1928 that Edgar Allen discovered human ovaries. Yet generational reproduction is described when Rebekah was alarmed by the battle within her body and asked God to explain what was going on. In Genesis 25:23 He told her that two nations were in her womb. It's alarming to consider that when someone is murdered or a child is aborted, generations of life and potential are destroyed.

The LORD said to her,

Two nations are in your womb;
And two peoples will be separated from your body;
And one people shall be stronger than the other;
And the older shall serve the younger. NASB

And that's exactly what happened –
but she would not see the generational impact during her lifetime.

03] A 1995 study tracing the Y-chromosome of 38 men from ethnic groups around the world confirmed the origin of man as being from a single gene pool as recorded in Genesis 5.[2]  And Luke later wrote,

He created all the people of the world
from one man, Adam.
Acts 17:26 TLB

04} "For centuries people accepted the 'spontaneous generation' of life from inanimate matter. When this long-standing myth was finally dispelled in the mid-1800s, it became clear that all life must arise from pre-existing life - via a process of reproduction." Yes! “All cells are made from pre-existing cells.”[3] And this is what the Bible states in Genesis 3.

05} How could David, without the information and technology we have today, observe a pregnant mother's body and write, "You knit me together in my mother's womb"? And yet, Psalm 139 beautifully describes the DNA tapestry and embryonic development.

06} Having blood drawn at a doctor's office can determine the overall health of our bodies - as well as sugar, vitamin, cholesterol, and other levels. The Bible states that life is in the blood (Lev. 17:11). Without it, we cannot live. Medical science has confirmed that every cell in our bodies is dependent upon nutrients for growth, repair, function, and replication delivered to them by blood.[4]

07} Modern medical researchers have determined that the only time Prothrombin, a blood-clotting chemical, will exceed 100% of its normal level is on a baby's eighth day of life.[5]  God ordered the circumcision of male children to be performed on the eighth day (Gen. 17:12).

08} And so it's always been... Life is produced by kinds. There are varieties, yet limits. One kind doesn't change into another kind. An ape cannot become a cat (Gen. 1).

09} In 1694, Rudolph Camerarius first described plant male and female sexuality. He also described the role of pollination.[6]  But God had the first Word,
And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass,
the herb yielding seed,
and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind,
whose seed is in itself, upon the earth:
and it was so.
And the earth brought forth grass,
and herb yielding seed after his kind,
and the tree yielding fruit,
whose seed was in itself, after his kind:
and God saw that it was good.
Genesis 1:11-12 KJV

10}  Seeds remain an amazing mystery. Scientists avoid stating that seeds are alive or dead, generally describing them as dormant. With no signs of metabolic activity, viable seeds contain everything needed to develop into a plant or tree. But they rest until exposed to proper conditions.[7]  The origin is in Genesis. What a great illustration of ministry and the Resurrection from the dead.

Most assuredly, I say to you,
unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies,
it remains alone; but if it dies,
it produces much grain.
John 12:24 NKJV

Some skeptic is sure to ask,
“Show me how resurrection works.
Give me a diagram; draw me a picture.
What does this ‘resurrection body’ look like?”
If you look at this question closely, you realize how absurd it is.
There are no diagrams for this kind of thing.
We do have a parallel experience in gardening.
You plant a “dead” seed; soon there is a flourishing plant.
There is no visual likeness between seed and plant.
You could never guess what a tomato would look like
by looking at a tomato seed.
What we plant in the soil and what grows out of it
don’t look anything alike.
The dead body that we bury in the ground
and the resurrection body that comes from it
will be dramatically different.
1 Corinthians 15:35-38 MSG

11} There is great concern that genetically engineered seed bearing crops may be dangerous to our health and someday cause a global famine. God warned us not to mix or manipulate seed (Lev. 19:19, Deut. 22:9). Christ spoke of famines in The Last Days (Matt.24:7).

12} It was before the importance of good hygiene was understood. Women were dying after giving birth in hospitals. After handling dead bodies, interns were not washing their hands before examining these women. Then in 1847, Ignaz Semmelweis, a Hungarian physician, introduced the idea of washing hands with chlorinated lime under running water, and the death rate dropped from about 30% to 2%. What happened next is a very interesting and tragic story available on the link associated with this footnote.[8]  In the seemingly boring books of the Bible, God teaches us about the dangers of transferring bacteria by touching, that it takes time for bacteria to die, and of the importance of running water to cleanse us from bacteria (Lev. 15:1-13).

13} Until the 20th century, millions died because of infection in open wounds. Wine is recognized as a powerful disinfectant for wounds, although drinking it may hinder healing.[9]  Web MD shares an article about the medical uses of the olive, including its oil on injuries.[10]  Jesus shared a parable about a man who was beaten so badly by thieves that he was left along the road as dead. When a despised Samaritan saw him, he poured oil and wine over his injuries (Luke 10:34). We'll never know how many lives throughout the centuries might have been saved if this prescription had been used.

14} We avoid people who have a cold or the flu. Isolation and quarantine are methods used by nations to protect citizens from dangerous, infectious diseases.[11]  Had the book of Leviticus been heeded, many plagues could have been stopped more quickly throughout the centuries as God instructed the people to isolate the clean from the unclean, the healthy from the diseased (Lev. 13). And whoever touched a dead body was considered unclean seven days (Num. 19:11), which is important because many minor to fatal diseases can be transferred to healthy individuals by handling a diseased body.

15} This one's a little nasty, but extremely important. In too many wars, more soldiers have died from disease because they didn't bury their human waste than those who died from war wounds. When human waste collects in trenches and latrines, insects, animals, and unwashed hands transfer bacteria to food supplies. Ingesting or touching human or animal feces transfers diseases such as typhoid, dysentery, hepatitis A and E, polio, E. coli, intestinal worms, and more. They didn't have bathrooms with flushing toilets, so God instructed the wandering Israelites to go outside the camp for bodily cleansing, taking a shovel to cover their excrement when they relieved themselves (Deut. 23:12-14). We can't know how many soldiers and citizens might have been spared an agonizing death had this procedure been practiced.

16} Many medical professionals are convinced that a positive emotional attitude has a significant impact on fighting any disease. King Solomon, who reigned c. 970-931 BC, wrote:

A joyful heart is good medicine,
But a broken spirit dries up the bones.
Proverbs 17:22 NASB

17} Eating foods containing saturated fats increase our risk of heart disease. The American Heart Association lists fatty beef and lamb as the top two threats to our hearts and recommends selecting lean cuts of meat.[12]  The Bible instructs us not to eat fat (Lev. 7:23). We now understand why.

18} Seemingly boring segments of the Bible identified animals that were not to be eaten - those found dead, certain land and aquatic animals, and certain insects (Lev. 1-23, Deut. 14:3-21). We now understand that most of these were decaying or ate decaying animals, and therefore were likely to carry bacteria that had the potential to transmit serious diseases.

19} The Big Bang is not a theory (Gen. 1).

20} First Law of Thermodynamics: energy is constant. It can be transformed from one form to another, but it cannot be created or destroyed.[13]  In other words,

Thus the heavens and the earth were finished,
and all the host of them.
Genesis 2:1 ESV

21} Have you ever attempted to count the stars? According to NASA, "There isn't a way to simply count the number of stars in the Milky Way individually." Though estimates vary, "the most common answer seems to be that there are 100 billion stars in the Milky Way on the low-end and 400 billion on the high end."[14]  NASA's Cosmicopia offers a possible 10 billion galaxies in the universe with an estimated 1000 billion billion stars collectively. (Yes, it reads "billion billion.") They state that a collection of as many grains of sand as there are stars in the sky would equal a sphere with a radius about the typical size of a comet nucleus, but not as large as a substantial fraction of our moon.[15]  There was no scientific space exploration when the Bible repeatedly described the stars as uncountable - as the sands on the seashore that cannot be measured (Gen. 15:5, Jer. 33:22).

22} We cannot see molecules, atoms, and particles. Sir Isaac Newton[16] (1643-1727), a deeply devoted Christian, and a Quaker named John Dalton[17]  (1766-1844) laid the foundation for atomic research. They were familiar with the words of the author of Hebrews written over 1600 years earlier,

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed
by the word of God, so that things which are seen
were not made of things which do appear.
Hebrews 11:3 KJV

23} For many centuries, they were recognized as mysterious lights in the sky. Only through Divine inspiration could Paul have recognized that each star is unique.

There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon,
and another glory of the stars:
for one star differeth from another star in glory.
1 Corinthians 15:41 KJV

24} Modern science has verified Biblical accounts that the universe is expanding - “stretching" [18] (Job 26:7, Ps. 104:2, Is. 40:22, Jer. 10:12). And it's been discovered that the sun with our entire solar system, orbits around the center of the Milky Way galaxy[19]. Psalm 19:4-6 describes this movement.

Their line is gone out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them hath he set a tabernacle for the sun,
Which is as a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
and rejoiceth as a strong man to run a race.
His going forth is from the end of the heaven,
and his circuit unto the ends of it:
and there is nothing hid from the heat thereof.
Psalm 19:4-6 KJV

25} Did you know that stars sing?[20] Our sun sings![21] Long before science discovered this amazing fact, God shared with Job that morning stars sang together (Job 38:7).

26} Astronomers have verified God's Words to Job. The Pleiades and Orion star groups are gravitationally bound.[22]

Can you bind the cluster of the Pleiades,
Or loose the belt of Orion?
Job 38:31 NKJV

27} God spoke to Job about the division of light long before Sir Isaac Newton wrote about his discoveries in 1672.[23]  But as a deeply devoted Christian, Newton was familiar with the Scriptures, which were the foundation of many scientific discoveries.

By what way is the light parted,
which scattereth the east wind upon the earth?
Job 38:24 KJV

28}  With compelling evidence, many scientists believe there was once a single landmass that divided to form the continents. Some Christians believe this may have happened during the Flood of Noah’s day (Gen. 5:32-10:1). Others believe the Bible’s reference to the earth dividing in the days of Peleg was such an event (Gen. 10:25). Others believe the Peleg account refers to the Tower of Babel event when God divided the people into language groups (Gen. 11:1-9). Both events are recorded within a few verses of each other. The world population would have been very low at that time. (Example of Explanation[24]) So, what's the specific answer? We don't know. Does it matter? Whether you believe in evolution or Creation, the division of land is highly probable, and the division of human languages is undeniable.

29} The Bible clearly describes a global flood (Gen. 5:32-10:1). If anyone wants physical evidence, fossils of sea creatures have been discovered more than 7,000 feet above sea level in the Grand Canyon and in the Himalayan Mountains that rise over 29,029 feet above sea level.[25]

30} A specific amount of water cycles throughout the earth. It changes form - water, vapor, and ice. The same drops of water that fall on us today are the same drops of water that fell on Moses, Jeremiah, and Jesus. Few give credit where credit is due. Before Plato, Hippocrates, or Aristotle first theorized about a hydrologic cycle, the author of Psalm 135, Isaiah, and Jeremiah described it (Ps. 135:7, Is. 40:12, Jer. 10:13).

31} Since Creation, the ocean floor has been a great mystery. But recent voyages deep into the oceans in special robotic vehicles have revealed hydrothermal vents with superhot waters flowing from them.[26] How could the authors of Genesis and Job possibly uncover this secret without a Divine revelation (Job 38:16)?

In the six hundredth year of Noah's life...
were all the fountains of the great deep broken up,
and the windows of heaven were opened.
Genesis 7:11 KJV

32} Until the last century, there was no substantive scientific evidence of great mountains and deep trenches in the ocean, but the prophet Jonah described them (Jon. 2:6).

33} Matthew Maury (1806-1873) was an American naval officer and oceanographer who trusted the accuracy of the Bible. With Psalm 8 in his heart, he set out to find the paths of the seas. And he was successful.[27]  We refer to them as ocean currents.

{To the chief Musician upon Gittith, A Psalm of David.}
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name in all the earth!
who hast set thy glory above the heavens.
Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings
hast thou ordained strength because of thine enemies,
that thou mightest still the enemy and the avenger.
When I consider thy heavens, the work of thy fingers,
the moon and the stars, which thou hast ordained;
What is man, that thou art mindful of him?
and the son of man, that thou visitest him?
For thou hast made him a little lower than the angels,
and hast crowned him with glory and honour.
Thou madest him to have dominion over the works of thy hands;
thou hast put all things under his feet:
All sheep and oxen, yea, and the beasts of the field;
The fowl of the air, and the fish of the sea,
and whatsoever passeth through the paths of the seas.
O LORD our Lord, how excellent is thy name is all the earth!
Psalm 8 KJV

34} Some credit Christopher Columbus with proving that the earth is round. Others give Greek philosophers Pythagoras or Aristotle, or Greek mathematician Euclid credit. But much earlier, Isaiah wrote that the earth is a circle (Is. 40:22).

35} Science has verified the accuracy of the Bible as Job stated that God stretched out the northern sky over empty space, hanging the earth on nothing (Job 26:7).

36} Solomon described air currents over 3500 years before they were defined in terms that are currently taught in textbooks.

The wind goes toward the south, and turns about unto the north;
it whirls about continually,
and the wind returns again according to its circuit.
Ecclesiastes 1:6 KJV2000

37} There's much more to clouds than breathtakingly beautiful vapor that dances through baby blue skies or serving as a warning to wear rain boots. Clouds are fearfully and wonderfully designed (Job 26:8, 36:27-29, 37:11; Ecc. 1:7; Is. 55:10).

38} Scientifically confirmed only 300 years ago, the wind has weight. But Job spoke of it long before this:

But God understands the way to wisdom, and He knows its location.
For He looks to the ends of the earth
and sees everything under the heavens.
When God fixed the weight of the wind
and limited the water by measure...
Job 28:23-25 HCSB

39} Second Law of Thermodynamics: things will deteriorate, break down. In other words, the earth will grow old like a tattered old t-shirt (Ps. 102:26, Is. 51:6, Heb. 1:11).

40}  What about dinosaurs? The word "creature" is used by Christians and evolutionists, the name meaning, "something created." The word "animal" comes from the Latin animalis (having breath) or anima (breath). Can anyone explain the entrance of breath into a creature using evolutionary philosophies?

The term "dinosaur" wasn't used until 1841 when Sir Richard Owen coined the word using the Greek deinos (terrible) sauros (lizard). Over 3,000 years earlier, the Bible referred to these creatures in the Hebrew Old Testament with the word tannin (singular), tanninim (plural). The Hebrew root word tanan indicates these creatures howled; in Greek, this word is translated drakon.[27]  How many fairy tales have sent princes out to slay dragons?

They are referenced in Job 40:15-24, Job 41, Psalm 104:25-26, Isaiah 27:1, and more. Below is one of my favorite links regarding this discussion, "What About Dinosaurs?". It's a good resource if you have children studying science in public schools. If you find the link is removed or doesn't open properly, please let us know.

41} And while there's so much more to share, I'll let you add to this list. Here, I've saved the best for last. Laminin - a cell adhesion molecule that holds the body together. Watch "How Great is Our God" in reverent wonder...

Geobiologists find a bone and build a body of ideas that have no supportive structure or substance. Scientific dating is only as accurate as its scale. While many support a scale of millions and billions of years, many archeological and other discoveries support a shorter scale - thousands of years, which is Biblical.

Consider a cover-to-cover Bible study on this topic while reading Charles Darwin’s Evolution of the Species. Melissa Ann and I did this. His writings expose his personal struggles with his own theory because of the complexity of the eye, peacock feathers, lack of transitional fossil records, and much more. He stated that if certain things had happened, his theory would be jeopardized. Although scientific advances prove his theory has serious flaws, the theory continues to gain momentum.

If there was no other evidence, too many prayers have been answered – prayers that defy the possibility of simple coincidence. My faith isn’t great enough to embrace evolution and other secular dogma.

There is Life in His Blood

For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins.

He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation. For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist. And He is the head of the body, the church, who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, that in all things He may have the preeminence.

For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight - if indeed you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and are not moved away from the hope of the gospel which you heard, which was preached to every creature under heaven, of which I, Paul, became a minister.
Colossians 1:9-23 NKJV
